BIO:
Scott Aukerman & BJ Porter aka The Fun Bunch
Scott Aukerman and BJ Porter began their careers onstage at the Comedy
Store, performing as a comedy duo, dryly named “The Fun Bunch.” Their performances
continued across L.A. venues such as the Improv, the Laugh Factory, Luna
Park, and Largo, culminating in appearances on Comedy Central’s “Make Me
Laugh.”
Along the way, they cozied up to a couple of fellow comedians, Bob Odenkirk
and David Cross, of HBO’s “Mr. Show.” They were soon tapped to appear on
early episodes, and eventually took the positions of writers and sketch performers
for the final season, which netted them both 1999 Emmy award nominations.
After wrapping the final episode, Aukerman & Porter immediately
co- wrote the “Mr. Show” movie for New Line Cinema, titled “Run Ronnie, Run.”
They followed this up with projects at Dreamworks (“Dog Show”), Studios
USA (“Murder Academy”), and are currently scripting the “Tenacious D” movie,
starring Jack Black, for Working Title Films.
In between scripts and club performances, Aukerman and Porter have appeared
on your television sets in episodes of several TV shows, such as “Just Shoot
Me,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” and “Angel,” and in a popular series of spots
for the MTV Movie Awards, co-starring Lisa Kudrow.
