BIO:
Andres
Fernandez exploded onto the New York comedy scene five years ago. With a
fresh brand of humor that was universal in appeal, Andres broke down barriers
of what an audience expected from a Latino comic. Drawing from experiences
with his Cuban father and his own mixed marriage to a Greek wife, Andres
charms the audience with his storytelling ability. Fluent in Spanish, he
has performed as a member of the Copa Comedy Troupe at the Copacabana, a
sketch player in "El Barrio" at Caroline's, and a legit stage actor with
the Puerto Rican Repertory Theatre. Classically trained at the William Esper
Studios, Andres combines his love for acting with his stand-up comedy to
produce an amusing blend of hilarity and reality. His act is receiving critical
praise as well, with a recent review noting "Andres Fernandez kept the flow
of laughs steady, but what truly cemented his acceptance was that the ethnic
humor never invaded poor taste or the mean-spirited. Fernandez is a quality
act to be sure." 1996 was a breakout year for Andres, with stand-up appearances
on NBC's "Friday Night!" and Showtime's "Latino Laugh Festival" as well as
the starring role in the UPN/Paramount sitcom pilot, "An American Family."
